The Lincoln Center Theater 2008 revival of Rogers & Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC, starring Lisa McCune, Teddy Tahu Rhodes, Eddie Perfect and Kate Ceberano, heads to Australia.

The show plays Sydney Opera House from tonight, August 8, followed by Melbourne's Princess Theatre from September 13, 2012, as the first-ever Lincoln Center Theater production to tour Australia.

Acclaimed opera star Rhodes and Gold Logie Award-winning actress McCune head the cast as Emile de Beque and Nellie Forbush, joined by Ceberano as Bloody Mary and Perfect as Luther Billis.

The Broadway show, directed by Bartlett Sher (who won the 2008 Tony and Drama Desk awards for South Pacific) swept the 2008 Tony Awards and played to sold-out houses in New York for more than two years before commencing its ongoing U.S. tour. A sellout London Season and UK tour followed. The Australian season of SOUTH PACIFIC marks the coming together of Australia’s largest performing arts company, Opera Australia, with Australia’s largest commercial theatre producer, John Frost.

Considered one of the finest musicals ever written, the score includes "Some Enchanted Evening," "I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair" and "There is Nothin’ Like a Dame." With a cast of 40 and a live orchestra, the production will play Sydney Opera House for four weeks, and then Melbourne’s Princess Theatre for a strictly limited 10-week season.
